BECOMING 2

About Me

Hey, I'm Karl (Karol), a 3rd-year micromedia student at Vanier College. My heart belongs to the world of movies, anime, manga, art, and so much more. I am a dedicated enthusiast, always exploring new avenues to express my creativity and share my love for these passions with the world.

Web Improvement: Zeta Threads (Client Website)

I built this website as part of my WEB 5 project. I did this with focus on simplicity and functionality. I kept the design minimal, ensuring it loads fast and is easy to navigate. My goal was to create a clean and straightforward experience without unnecessary distractions. While there’s always room for improvement, I wanted to keep things clear and to the point.

FEEDBACK: The website for Zeta Threads exhibits several design flaws that hinder user experience. The navigation is unclear, with menu items labeled numerically (e.g., "0," "1," "2") instead of descriptive text, making it difficult for users to understand their purpose. Additionally, the site lacks responsive design, resulting in poor display on mobile devices. The homepage is cluttered with images labeled as "Description 1," "Description 2," etc., which do not provide meaningful information to visitors. Furthermore, the absence of clear calls-to-action (CTAs) makes it challenging for users to know how to proceed, potentially leading to higher bounce rates. These issues collectively diminish the site's usability and effectiveness.

CHANGES: I change the whole layout of the page. I've added some buttons (even though I'm still trying to fix some of it). I've adjusted the images and the information too. I have to admit that until now, I'm still updating my website from time to time but I'm a bit satisfied with what I have and I still need to improve it.

Print Improvement - Trading Cards Project

I love movies adn I want to do trading cards that's based on the 80s movies. First one is bad because I made it during my first semester but I recreate it and I used the brand Letterbxd (For school project only)

FEEDBACK: The whole old design is really bad and the colors, the font and the illustration looks bad.

CHANGES: I changed the whole design, the card itself and made it better.

Capython: A Case Study

Capython is an intense, one-week multimedia hackathon where students from all levels of the multimedia program are grouped into teams to push their creative and technical limits. With complete creative freedom, teams can develop anything from marketing campaigns and websites to apps, games, and beyond. It’s a unique opportunity to collaborate, experiment, and bring bold ideas to life, all while honing essential industry skills in design, coding, strategy, and storytelling.

Personal Project: A Case Study

Inspired by the whimsical and symmetrical world of Wes Anderson, A Day Off follows my close friend, Harold, as he wanders through downtown Montréal on a rare day free from routine. With minimal dialogue and plenty of visual storytelling, this short film captures the quiet beauty of simply existing.
